Call for Papers and Second Announcement (Deadline for abstract submission is extended to March 20, 2008!!!) The Asia-Pacific Productivity Conference 2008 (APPC2008) will be held on July 17-19, 2008, in Taipei, Taiwan. This is the sixth international conference on efficiency and productivity growth in the Asia-Pacific region. The conference is organized and sponsored jointly by the Institute of Economics, Academia Sinica (IEAS) and several well-known universities in Taiwan. The conference program will consist of Invited/Contributed Paper Sessions, a policy symposium, and a pre-conference workshop. Three keynote addresses will be given by Chiang Kao of Taiwan, D.S. Prasada Rao of Australia, and Emmanuel Thanassoulis of U.K. Other invited speakers include Tim Coelli, Rolf Färe, Finn Førsund, William Greene, Shawna Grosskopf, Cliff Huang, Subal Kumbhakar, Jeon-Dong Lee, C. A. Knox Lovell, Hak K. Pyo, Peter Schmidt, Shunsuke Managi, Robin Sickles, Kaoru Tone, and Yanrui Wu. We welcome theoretical and empirical papers on productivity, production theory and efficiency measurement in the economics, management science, public administration, and related fields. Papers addressing efficiency and productivity growth issues in the Asia-Pacific region are especially welcome. Those wishing to contribute a paper should submit an abstract (not exceeding two pages) no later than March 20, 2008, via the conference website www.APPC2008.org.tw. Completed manuscripts for those accepted are due by May 31, 2008. Limited financial support may be available for PhD students and junior researchers to cover the registration fee and lodging costs. Those applying for financial support must submit their completed manuscripts by May 1, 2008. IInformation on hotel is now available in our website. The registration fee is US$100, which will cover refreshments, one reception and one conference dinner. For those who register before May 31, 2008, a 20% discount will be offered.
